Weekend in the South with the Birding club.

The extended weekend of July 5-8 (Thursday to Sunday) saw us joining the Birding Club for a trip to the south of the country. This was the first time that we have been that far to the south of the country.

Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is located about 5km west of the Interamericana highway and very close to Golfito. The lodge is superb! Quite upmarket (including the price) but we had a super deal for the Birding club group, arranged by Julian, one of the members.
The lodging was on a "full board" basis including everything except drinks and the food was excellent! Weather was kind with very little rain - lucky for this time of the year with the rainy season starting.

Our normal "resident" Club birding guide Patrick O'Donnell was with us - or rather us with him - and we had some superb birding.
Shirlene picked up 38 new birds and I managed 22 in the 3 days.

As I was doing some serious birding due to the new area, photographing the birds took second place this time so the album is not extensive but gives some insight.

As always, click on the album and enjoy.
